| Bon Voyage to the Bucs | ||||

As I mentioned in Friday's game story, it really is a shame that the Phantoms and the Des Moines Buccaneers are done playing for the rest of the season, barring a meeting in the Clark Cup Final this upcoming spring. All four games in the season series were up-and-down affairs decided in the third period. Would I be saying this if the Phantoms didn't come out on top in three out of those four? Probably.
On to the audio highlights, starting with last Thursday's 4-3 win: Jefferson Dahl starts Youngstown's comeback from 2-0 down with his third of the season. Ryan Jasinsky drives the net and buries a rebound to tie the game. Nick Czinder puts the Phantoms on top to cap off a scrambling play. Rich Young's late goal helps the good guys to their first home win of the campaign.
Now for all the merriment from Friday's 5-4 nailbiter: Brian Dowd gets the home side off and running with an early power-play goal. Czinder one-times a shot past Keegan Asmundson to restore the Phantoms' lead at 2-1. Taylor Holstrom gets back on the scoring march with his fourth of the season late in the first. First-year forward Adam Berkle buries the Bucs in a 4-1 hole in the opening minute of the second. Brett Gensler stretches the spread to four goals, taking advantage of Asmundson's turnover.
Hope you enjoyed this week's highlights! The Phantoms go for five in a row this Wednesday against the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:15 p.m. in the third of five straight games at the Covelli Centre. Tune into ESPN 1240 or wbbw.com at approximately 7 p.m. for the Chick-Fil-A Pregame Show, followed by thrilling hockey action live from downtown Youngstown! |
