YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Phantoms immersed themselves in the spirit of Thanksgiving Wednesday, Nov. 25 when they assisted in the Salvation Army’s effort to feed the Mahoning Valley’s less fortunate. Click here for a photo gallery of the event!

Phantoms players and team mascot Sparky were at the Salvation Army location at 1501 Glenwood Ave. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day before Thanksgiving to help the world-renowned service organization provide dinners to local residents.

“We are fortunate to be home for the holidays this year,” said Phantoms Director of Community Relations Kelly Carroll. “We all know how important it is to celebrate Thanksgiving, so this was an opportunity to help give back to the community and at the same time enjoy Thanksgiving with those who otherwise wouldn’t get to have it.”

The Salvation Army, founded in 1865, has a presence in 116 countries around the globe and continues on its mission to assist those who are homeless, abused or disadvantaged. For additional information on the Salvation Army, both worldwide and in the local area, visit www.salvationarmy.org.

The Youngstown Phantoms are a Member Club of the United States Hockey League (USHL), America’s only Tier I hockey league and premier developer of National Hockey League talent with more than 100 alumni on current NHL rosters.
