YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Current Pittsburgh Penguins forward and 2009 Stanley Cup champion Tyler Kennedy will appear at Covelli Centre before the Youngstown Phantoms’ USHL game against the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday, Jan. 29. Kennedy, in the midst of his third season with the NHL’s Penguins, will be signing autographs and taking pictures with Phantoms fans from 5-7 p.m. prior to the 7:15 p.m. opening faceoff with the Stampede. The Covelli Centre gates will open one hour earlier than usual, at 5 p.m., to accommodate the exclusive meet-and-greet presented by FSN Pittsburgh.
Kennedy scored 15 goals during the NHL’s 2008-09 regular season and added five more in the playoffs, including the game winner at Pittsburgh’s Mellon Arena in do-or-die Game Six of the Stanley Cup Final against the Detroit Red Wings. He has nine goals and seven assists this season (through Jan. 19) playing primarily on Pittsburgh’s strong third line with Jordan Staal and Matt Cooke.
