YOUNGSTOWN – The Youngstown Phantoms have announced dates for the team’s second Futures Camp, May 19 through 21.  The three-day exposure camp will be hosted at the Ice Zone, the Phantoms’ practice facility.

Phantoms’ 2017 Futures Camp is open to interested player who have birth years of 2002 or 2003 only.  The camp will be a first come first served basis and registration will close once all team positions are filled.  Players are able to register online at YoungstownPhantoms.com/camps

“This is only our second time hosting a futures camp with our Phantoms’ hockey operations staff,” said General Manager Jason Koehler.  “Last year we were impressed by the quality of young talent and are looking forward to bringing a number of skilled players to Youngstown to showcase our developmental program and educate them about what it takes to play in the United States Hockey League (USHL).”

Phantoms’ Futures Camp begins Friday May 19, with player check-in, presentations, and tour at the Phantoms’ home arena, the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.  The presentations by the Phantoms hockey operations staff will focus on junior hockey, the USHL, and most importantly how the Phantoms’ program is run and the history of the organization.  Coaches and staff will also be available to players and parents in attendance for a question and answer session on day one of camp.

Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, camp participants will practice with Phantoms’ coaching staff, alumni and current players.  The three ice sessions will give players exposure time and the opportunity to show their potential to Phantoms’ staff.  There will also be additional opportunities to visit and tour the Phantoms’ home arena, the Covelli Centre.

This camp is a great opportunity for 2002 and 2003 born players who are interested in playing for the Phantoms and in the USHL in the near future, but are not yet ready or eligible.  The camp provides an experience of competitive play, a chance to become familiar with one of the top developmental programs in the country, and to show their abilities.
