Top Prospects Game Preview

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Phantoms just came back from a weekend split with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. After Saturday night’s game the bus was four people short, Max Ellis, Curtis Hall, and Ivan Prosvetov, along with their head coach Brad Patterson, made their way to Kearney, Nebraska for the 2018 NHL Top Prospects Game.

Max Ellis, Notre Dame commit is in his second season with the Phantoms. Through the 25 games he played this season Ellis has totaled 20 points, scoring 9 goals and assisting on 11.

Curtis Hall, Yale commit is in his second season with the Phantoms. Hall has played 23 of the 27 games this season, during this time he tallied 19 points, 11 goals and 8 assists. Curtis missed a few games in December due to joining Team USA to compete in the 2017 World Junior A Challenge.

Phantoms goaltender, Ivan Prosvetov is in his first season with the Phantoms. He’s played in 15 games, and has a record of 7-3-2.

Brad Patterson is in his ninth season with the Phantoms, second as Head Coach. At the game he will faceoff against former Phantoms Head Coach, Anthony Noreen.

The two-day event will begin on Monday, January 8th with on-ice testing conducted by HockeyTech and off-ice measurements conducted by NHL Central Scouting. The USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will be on Tuesday, January 9th.

A Look Back

Since 2015, the Phantoms have had seven players who have played in the NHL Top Prospects game, Kyle Connor, Chase Pearson, Kris Myllari, Cam Morrison, Luke McInnis, Michael Karow, and Nicholas Werbik. Four of the seven players were drafted in the NHL Draft.

Kyle Connor was drafted in the 2015 NHL draft, 1st Round 17th Overall by the Winnipeg Jets. He currently splits his playing time between Winnipeg and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate team the Manitoba Moose. So far in the 2017-18 season with Winnipeg he has played 35 games, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 12 giving him a total of 25 points.

Chase Pearson was drafted in the 2015 NHL draft, 5th Round 140th Overall by the Detroit Red Wings. He currently is Captain at the University of Maine. So far in the 2017-18 season, Chase has tallied 13 points, 1 goal, and 12 assists.

Cam Morrison was drafted in the 2016 NHL draft, 2nd Round 40th Overall by the Colorado Avalanche. Morrison is currently playing hockey at the University of Notre Dame, tallying a total of 12 points, breaking down into 4 goals and 8 assists.

Michael Karow was drafted in the 2017 NHL draft, 5th Round 126th Overall by the Arizona Coyotes. He is currently in his first season with Boston College, assisting on 3 goals in his first 17 games.
