NAZZARETT SCORES FIRST USHL GOAL

US NTDP U17 9, PHANTOMS 2

Thirteen different U17 skaters registered a point as the United States National Team Development Program’s U17 squad used a five-goal third period to turn a 4-2 lead into a 9-2 final. Youngstown opened the scoring with Jayson Dobay’s slapper from between the circles 3:55 into the game, but the Phantoms surrendered four unanswered goals to fall behind 4-1 before they scored again. Zack Nazzarett stole a puck from an NTDP forward and snapped a wrist shot just inside the right post for his first USHL goal at 14:03 of the second, trimming the deficit to 4-2. Youngstown could get no closer, and the NTDP scored five in the final stanza, including four in the final 4:30, to make up the final margin.
