PHANTOMS 4, CHICAGO 2
The Phantoms jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but had to hold off a Chicago comeback after two early-third period goals cut the Youngstown lead to 3-2. Aiden Gallacher fired a Chicago rebound over 180 feet into the vacant Steel net with 37 seconds left to make up the final margin of 4-2 Friday night in Chicago. Gallacher opened the scoring as well with a blast from the right point 7:45 into the first period. John Beaton scored on a penalty shot at 5:49 of the second, and Trevor Kuntar snapped a wrister in at 18:00 of the middle frame to give the Phantoms the aforementioned 3-0 advantage. Chicago struck twice in the first 1:15 of the third thanks to a review and an odd-man rush, but Basse slammed the door shut and Gallacher sealed the victory. Dominic Basse stopped 36 of 38 shots to break his personal three-game winless streak.
PHANTOMS 4, MUSKEGON 3 (OT)
Jayson Dobay scored with 46 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Phantoms a 4-3 win over the rival-Muskegon Lumberjacks Saturday night in Michigan. The ‘Jacks scored late in the first to grab a 1-0 lead, but Youngstown used a pair of goals from Yusaku Ando and a redirect from Jake Suede to grab a 3-1 advantage after two periods. Muskegon used a pair of goals in the third, including one with the goalie pulled and just 1:25 remaining in regulation, to tie the game, but could not convert on an overtime power play, setting the stage for Dobay to cash in on a two-on-one rush with Josh DeLuca for the game-winner.
