So You Want to Work In Sports?
The Youngstown Phantoms Hockey Team will host its career development event So You Want to Work in Sports? from 5-7 p.m. on January 26, 2017. This opportunity is ideal for high school and college students who are looking to explore a career in sports management, and provides a behind-the-scene look at how the Youngstown Phantom Hockey team operates.
Admission for So You Want to Work in Sports? only costs $10, which includes a ticket for the game following the event, as well as locker room tour and the opportunity meet with Phantoms’ professional staff. The evening will kick off at 5 p.m. with a presentation by Aafke Loney, founder and president of Business and Education Connected, LLC; Troy Loney, two-time Stanley Cup Champion; Youngstown Phantoms General Manager Jason Koehler; Team Doctor Paul Watanakunakorn; and Athletic Trainer Joe Zidar.
The Phantoms team will discuss the importance of intertwining business and entertainment for successful sporting events, an essential element of sports management. Students will learn about exclusive sports data research, and receive a tour through the Youngstown Phantoms Locker Room and the Covelli Centre Concourse.
After the event, students can enjoy the 1-2-3 night promotion, which includes $1 popcorn, $2 dollar soda, and a $3 dollar mystery box item from the Dunkin Donuts Team Shop.
