“You always want success for your players when they move on afterwards,” said Phantoms Head Coach Brad Patterson. “It’s not only about the hockey player, it’s about the character of the young men that were in Youngstown. Not only are (those players) top notch hockey players, they’re top notch human beings. They did a lot for our area while they were here. I’ve been getting text messages from Phantom alumni saying ‘Hey, did you see this?’, ‘Did you see that?’, and ‘Congrats!’, and it’s very satisfying to see that and the bond that these guys have created. I think that’s a big part of being a Youngstown Phantom: when you come here, you’re a Phantom for life, and there’s always guys pushing for you when you move on.”

The 2017 NCAA D-I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship kicks off Friday March 24 when the University of Minnesota Duluth battles Ohio State University at Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota, home of the USHL’s Fargo Force.
