Team East Tops Team West in Top Prospects Game

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – On Tuesday, January 9th, the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game took place in Kearney, Nebraska where Team East topped Team West 4-3. Three Phantom’s players and a coach helped make up Team East including; Curtis Hall, Max Ellis, Ivan Prosvetov and Head Coach Brad Patterson. Former Phantoms coach Anthony Noreern was the coach for Team West.

Ivan Prosvetov started in the net for Team East. During his 31 minutes of play time he stopped all of the 11 shots he faced. Curtis Hall scored at 12:58 in the 3rd to tie the game at 3.

Since 2015 four of the seven Phantom players who had made the Top Prospects game were drafted in the NHL Draft. These players include; Kyle Connor (2015), Chase Pearson (2015), Cam Morrison (2016), and Michael Karow (2017). In the most recent NHL Central Scouting Report both Hall and Prosvetov are “C” rated skaters. “C” rated skaters indicate 4th/5th/6th round candidates for the NHL Draft.

The Phantoms who participated in the Top Prospects game will meet the rest of the team in Dubuque, Iowa for a two game stint against the Fighting Saints on Friday and Saturday.
