YOUNGSTOWN, OH— USA Hockey unveiled today, that Phantom forward Jack Malone will compete with the U.S. Junior Select Team, in the 2018 World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alberta.
Malone, a Madison, New Jersey native, is currently second in scoring for the Phantoms with seven goals and eight assists for fifteen points in seventeen games this season. The Cornell commit has recorded a point in each of the Phantoms seven wins this season and has twelve points in the last ten games.
Throughout his tenure with the Phantoms, Malone has totaled 30 points (11G, 19A) in 71 games.
“Our staff and organization is excited for Jack and the opportunity he has earned with being placed on this roster and participating in this event,” said Phantoms’ General Manager Jason Koehler. “Jack’s had a nice start to the season and has become comfortable here in year two playing in all situations for our coaching staff and having success on multiple levels becoming a complete and impact player for our club on a nightly basis. We’ve had some previous high end Phantoms participate in this event, and we’re proud to see Jack’s name added to this list and wish him the best as the team looks to bring home a gold medal in a few weeks.”
The World Junior A Challenge is scheduled to take place from December 9-16 at R.J. Lalonde Arena in Bonnyville, AB. Team USA will be joined by Canada East, Canada West, Czech Republic and Russia. Malone will miss four games for the Phantoms from Dec. 4-16 as he represents the United States. The Team USA World Junior A Challenge roster is made up exclusively of USHL players who are not part of the United State National Team Development program in Plymouth, Michigan.
